Inspiring Page Layout Design

I love the new Behance from Adobe Creative Cloud. So much good artwork posted here. I could be inspired and entertained all day looking at this stuff. Found this neat page layout design that I was really into for its color scheme and unconventional art. See more of it here: https://www.behance.net/gallery/RANE-II/12952011?h_tk=1&h_tk_jf=1

Star Wars At Christmas Time

Catching Up

For anybody that still happens to follow my blog, I apologize for not posting in a very long time. Things have been quite busy for me, but I realized no matter how busy I get, there is always time to give a quick post on a daily basis.

As for my photo project, PROJECT 365, I ended up failing on the task of taking a photo every day for an entire year, but I don't really feel like I've failed completely. I have now gotten into the habit of taking my camera with me everywhere I go. Which is neat because I've been able to capture some very compelling shots. I would someday like to re-attempt the project as I had some really cool ideas on what I wanted to do with the photos once I finished. For now, I will probably hold off for a while until I know I have more time to devote to the project.

Currently I have been spending quite a bit more time on designing and developing websites. Its nice to get back projects like these because it really helps refresh and update my development skills. I was talking about web development the other day and it reminded me of the computer game that I've been intending on creating. The game is currently in the story writing stage, so still have quite a bit farther to go on it, but I am looking forward to getting closer to the development stages to create something that functions and is playable.

Lastly I have just been enjoying the holiday season and am going to start setting more creative goals for myself for the upcoming new year!

Week 1 of Project 365 In the Books!

So after completing the first week of my new photo project, I am inspired more than ever. So far I have stuck to my goal and have taken a photo every day since last Wednesday. A few of the days I had some trouble trying to decide what to photograph, but once I started to think creatively and out of the box it came to me easily. One of the funnest aspects so far has been touching up the photos and seeing the before and after product. I am pretty pleased with what I have done so far and really looking forward to what I will be able to come up with throughout the project.

I Guess a Funny Joke Can Be Inspiring...

A writer that I used to work with while at 110° Magazine wrote a very funny joke on one of is blogs called "Good Un's". I couldn't help but laugh and think how even the dumbest things can sometimes keep people so entertained. Everybody needs laughter in their lives!

hahahaha

"Don't Ya Hate When That Happens?

I was in the bar yesterday when I suddenly realized that I desperately needed to pas gas. The music was really, really, loud, so I timed my farts with the beat.
After a couple of songs, I started to feel better. I finished my beer and noticed everybody was staring at me.
Then I suddenly remembered that I was listening to my iPod."

Project 365

I was told this weekend by a friend of mine about this project called Project 365. The idea of the project is to take a photo every day for an entire year. I was really intrigued by this challenge as I've been really wanting to utilize my photography in my art much more. I've decided to take the challenge for myself starting tomorrow, August 14, 2013. I don't plan on posting every single photo on my blog, but if I take a few that are extremely compelling, then I definitely will share.

Early Star Wars Concept of the Millenium Falcon

How weird it would have been if this was what the Millenium Falcon turned out to be. I guess it would only be weird because of how iconic it is now, but realistically if it ended up this way instead, maybe this would have been just as iconic.

Tough Mudder Logo

I was given the super fun project at work of designing a logo for The Wine Group's Tough Mudder Team. These were my initial concepts. I am excited to see how it turns out!

Wine Label

Working as a designer at a winery, I spend quite a bit of time at the grocery store looking at different wine labels and packaging. I came across this label about a year ago and I remember how it stopped me in my tracks, but unfortunately after the fact, I couldn't remember where I saw it or what it was called. Then one fine day at work, a co-worker asked me to help her with a presentation she was working on and this popped up again. Hard to say exactly why I like it, but every time I see it, it is rather intriguing to me. Next time I run into it at the store, I will buy some for tasting.

The Honey Bee

So I recently purchased a new camera. My goal is to be able to utilize my photography more, as an integral part of my art. Here are some shots I took at my niece's birthday party a couple weeks ago. I found this little guy digging around in the flowers.

Tiger Time Animation

I found this super random 3D animation. Was done by a college student for her final project. I don't think it has any major points to it, but it was so well done. The colors, the textures, the character. Really fun. : )

Wine At Work

A little doodle I did today at work when I was looking for some inspiration on a project. I guess when you work at a winery, its ok to talk about drinking!

Great Typography

A skill that I've always wanted to be better at is typography. Whether its for a creative logo, an ad or just any type of page layout design, its so important to be able to use typography effectively. I believe it can make or break any design. I found this design that I really liked. I thought all of the font choices complimented each other well and fit together nicely. Pieces like this inspire me to get better.

2 Dimensional Depth Using Color

Awesome painting of Jango Fett!

Great use of the dark color in the background and blending to the lighter, negative space in the foreground to create depth. In addition the fine details such as the shadows and highlights on the character really allow him to pop off the page.

Fun Food

Went camping recently with the family. Took some great photos of the food. Yum!! Makes me hungry!

My Inspiration

I created this blog to post a wide variety of things that interest me, inspire my creativity as a designer, and just to show off random things that I believe all should see. My goal is to have a large compilation of posts that not only inspire me, but my readers as well. Please be sure to check back regularly when you're in need of some great inspiration.
